Kurt Hoover has been one of the sport's most respected voices in Southern California since 1987, when he joined the Santa Anita Park broadcast team. He has been the simulcast/paddock host at Santa Anita, Hollywood Park, Del Mar and Los Alamitos. He was the longtime host of the Hollywood Park nightly replay show. Hoover won an Eclipse Award in 1999 as a part of the Santa Anita broadcast team for Local Television Achievement as one of the hosts of The Best of Santa Anita on Fox Sports West 2. His greatest thrill in racing came in November of 2019 when Zuzanna won the Grade 3 Red Carpet Handicap at Del Mar. Hoover and his partners claimed the mare for $8,000k in September of 2018 and she went on to win four races and earn almost $150,000k. After her racing career she was sold as a broodmare in Kentucky and is currently the proud mom of a filly by Thousand Words.

Hoover grew up in Arcadia, California just down the street from Santa Anita. He played varsity basketball at Arcadia High and graduated from Cal Poly Pomona with a BS in business administration.

He resides in Long Beach and San Clemente, California. When he's not at the track, he's at the beach, or watching his other favorite sports, baseball and college basketball.
