FanDuel Introduces “Mixup,” Adds New Product Features Ahead of 2017 MLB Season

Today, FanDuel announced Mixup – a new, innovative twist on its fantasy sports contests – will be coming to the FanDuel platform later this spring. Mixup combines the best elements of FanDuel’s traditional fantasy contests with a variety of rotating themes and game types. Mixup will rollout later this spring for baseball contests before expanding to other sports. The company also announced today that it is adding new features to its core MLB product, including Late Swap, Friends Mode, and changes to the baseball scoring format.

As part of continued efforts to enhance the user experience, FanDuel is introducing the following during the 2017 MLB season:

  • FanDuel Mixup: An innovation on FanDuel’s traditional game format, Mixup offers users a fun, new challenge each week with a variety of different contests based on rotating themes and games types. Mixup will be available for MLB contests later this spring.
  • Late Swap: As of today, both Late Swap and non-Late Swap contests will be available in the FanDuel lobby. In a Late Swap contest, users can edit players in their lineup up until the players’ individual games begin, rather than locking lineups at the start of the first game of the slate. If a player in a user’s lineup is a late scratch or has a game canceled because of bad weather, the player can be switched out across all lineups prior to his game start. Late Swap contests will go live today in the lobby – users can look for the unlocked padlock icon marked Late Swap next to a slate of contests.
  • Changes to MLB Scoring: In MLB contests, pitcher scoring has been changed in response to user feedback. Pitchers will now be awarded six points for a win (down from the previous twelve points), and four points for quality starts, a new scoring category.
  • Friends Mode for MLB Contests: Bringing the best of season-long baseball to the daily format, Friends Mode for MLB contests will be available on mobile and desktop beginning today. On Friends Mode, users can join a league at any time throughout the season and enter contests on a week-to-week basis, choosing the weeks they want to participate. Later this spring, FanDuel will be making Friends Mode even more flexible, allowing commissioners to change the league’s contest schedule throughout the season.
